TIME FOR SOME FEBRUARY REVEALS!

I have to admit something.  Christmas and Valentine's Day are a struggle for me to scrap.  I don't know why, they just are.  But this week I started creating with the February Birds of a Feather kit and I had a great time! I never mix red and pink, since I don't really use pink,  but red and pink are so fun together!  I really love the word/definition cards that come with the kit too.  I had and an old photo booth strip that I wanted to use so I gave the page a casual feel.  I layered my pink paper on to red paper,  folded down the top corner and added a paper clip.  I used some chipboard letters that Amy sent me and painted them with the red paint.  It was my first time using a doily on a page too!  Added the word card, some sequins, arrows, initials and distressed the edges with the paint!  Done!
I had to make a Valentine's Day card next.  I posted a sequins pocket idea at the BOAF forums the other day and wanted to give it a try.  I used some clear packaging, cut up some patterned paper to fit in the clear package and added sequins.  I stapled the top shut to keep the sequins from falling out and covered the staples with the big speech bubble.  I added one of the word cards in the kit and there you have it!  A cute little card that I think will be going to my daughter.
I really did have a great time creating this week and plan on doing more this weekend!  Make sure you share with us what you create with the kit.  The gallery is always open for adding more inspiration!  Happy Scrapping!

MORE JANUARY KIT

Yesterday I posted a challenge for you and today I'm posting another reveal with the BOAF January Kit!  Again, I kept it simple and had fun using the different pieces of  paper from ADORN IT.
I cut some block pieces of the paper and stated layering on both pages.  For the first layout I even used one of the adorable envelopes from the December Kit
For the second layout I layered paper and included one of the clear polaroid frames under the title.  The red stickers in the kit gave this page a great pop of color.
If you plan on gettig January's Kit or already have it opened and ready to use, make sure you show off your creations in the gallery
Have a great week!

Sunday Scrappy Challenge - 1/19 to 1/25

Hi everyone!
IT'S TIME FOR A NEW SUNDAY CHALLENGE!

The January Kit @ Birds of a Feather comes with a cute page of Echo Park 3/4 cards so I based today's challenge on them!

For your layout I want you to
Use two 3/4 cards (they can be quotes, journaling, blank...whatever!)
&
use a picture with YOU in it!

Here is what I came up with.  I used a picture of Paul and I on our anniversary and I used 3 cards.
Have fun with this challenge and make sure you post in the forum and the gallery by Saturday, January 25.

BOAF January 2014 Kit Is Here

It's 2014.  I can't believe it.  That means it's time for my first January Kit Reveal! This month we get to create with papers from Adorn It and Echo Park.  My favorite part of the kit though, is the sheet of clear polaroid overlays from Allison Kreft from Webster's Pages.  They are easy to use and add a little something to your pictures!  For my two layouts I kept it nice and simple.  My first layout is of my daughter and one of her barn chores at riding lessons.  Had to document how she will clean up after horse but not herself.  :)  I layered paper from the Adorn It collection.  This is actually one sheet of paper but I used both sides and layered it on a white background.  Easy!  Then I took an Instagram picture, covered it with one of the clear frames, then added the title in red letters for a little pop.  I also included one of the little frames that is on the polaroid sheet.  (Just love them!)

For my 2nd layout I went with a black, grey and red color scheme.  I used black and white pictures of Ziggy and Dexter, cut out an ampersand card from the 12 X 12 sheet in the kit, added the red title again and some simple embellishments.  Done! I couldn't resist adding more of the mini polaroid to this layout too.  Really like that some are plain and some have images in the frame.
Then of course, I had to add an initial to both layouts.

If you haven't checked out the January Kit head on over to the store and take a look.
Later this month I will have more reveals with the kit!  In the mean time I hope to see some creations from you too!

WINTER LAYOUTS WITH THE DECEMBER KIT

Hi everyone!  It's December kit time!  I am loving the great wintery colors that Amy put together and I  was so excited to see sheets of wood grain paper in this kit too.  So, of course, I had do my first layout with it!  I used some pictures from this past February.  (so glad I finally got them scrapped)  Yep. That wood grain paper is so great!  I really like the rustic feel it gives to the page.
I was having so much fun with the kit,  I made another layout.  This kit really makes it easy to put pages together.  I layered several of the papers and then added the big title.  (the big alphas for the title are part of the Timbergrove line but are not included with the kit.  The little ones are part of the kit and they are so cute!)  The star stickers are part of the sticker sheet and I gave them some dimension by adhering them with a pop dot.
With the scraps I had from the above layout, I had to make a card.  I added one of the cute little envelopes in the kit and put the snowflakes and sentiment right on it.  Now I have a card to send out and I used up scraps!
I will be making a lot more with this kit and if you bought it over at BOAF I hope you start scrapping with it.  Make sure you post your creations in our gallery!

Challenge at the Blog!

We've started a new thing at Birds of a Feather.  Instead of posting techniques for you, the design team is posting a new challenge every Sunday!  I think this is a great way to get people scrapping.  This past Sunday was my turn and I made it an easy one...if you like to make cards.

If you are interested in checking out the challenge just head on over to the blog and join in!  It's really easy and lets you use up some of your scraps!

It's a November Reveal...once again.

Time for another reveal with this month's kit!
I really am loving the soft colors in the November Kit @ Birds of A Feather
Not only are the colors great, but the embellishments are so fun.
For this reveal, I made two more layouts.   On my first layout, I used patterned paper from both Heidi Swapp and Carta Bella.  I love how well these two go together.  For the "8" in my title, I cut out the number from another Heidi Swapp paper.  Then of course I used the cut glitter alphas for the rest.
Here's a close up of the title card, journaling and date tab.
On this next layout, I mixed up the Carta Bella patterned paper. Love the patterns on both!
For my embellishments I wanted to draw attention to the picture of my dad and I, so I used a
vellum arrow from the Heidi Swapp embellishment pack (not included in the kit).
Here's a close up!
I love that I scrapped a page of my dad and I.  That doesn't happen very often.
This kit can be used for so many different pictures.  I plan on scrapping more this weekend so I think I will use up more of this great November Kit!!  If you use  yours, make sure you share what you create over in the gallery at BOAF!
